![]() ![]() If I ever have an issue after an update it is a slight change to my audio settings. Then a couple of days ago I did a Windows update on my Win10 machine (2022-01 Update for Windows 10 Ver 21H2 for 圆4-based Systems (KB4023057)). I have been using JTAlert without a problem for several years. Guys, I really need suggestions how to fix this. (I really don't like excluding items because I feel everything should be scanned.) It worked for several days and then suddenly this morning JTI/Suspect was found again and the. Based on previous discussion on this group I placed JTAlert.exe on McAfee's real-time scanning exclusion list. After some research I learned that JTI/Suspect is not "malicious", however McAfee sure doesn't like it. Note: I never fully uninstalled before reinstalling. I ended up reinstalling JTAlert several times with the same result. I try to open JTAlert and get the following pop-up from McAfee: I reinstall 2.51.0 and check that JTAlert.exe is there. The next day I try to open JTAlert and am told that the shortcut to JTAlert.exe has been "changed or moved". Furthermore, the virus Symantec claim it is infected with is a quite specific Trojan that “mimics the interface of certain Brazilian banks in an attempt to collect passwords and other sensitive information”. exe file on my computer, compiled from the source, gets the same results when scanned online. Past detections claimed to be in this file TrendMicro OfficeScan nor Microsoft Security Essentials report any problem as of the time of writing in March 2010. If past results are anything to go by, a couple of the less popular antivirus scanners used on Jotti will report a problem – all of them mysteriously different. If in doubt, check the MD5 or SHA-1 checksums of the download against those listed on the download page, or test the download before running using the Jotti malware scanner. McAfee in particular is notorious for false positives: just search for “mcafee false positive” on any search engine and you’ll see what I mean. ![]() So far, these detections have always been false positives and are a result of faulty antivirus heuristics. This is a recurring problem about which I am notified every so often by concerned users. A minority of antivirus products, especially Symantec and McAfee products, have a predilection for claiming the download is infected with a virus from time to time. ![]()
